Food Search Tips for Nutridiary Basic
In this topic you will find some tips that can help you if you are using the Nutridiary Basic version,
which is based on the 6,000+ food USDA database. This database, although extremely comprehensive
when it comes to unprocessed and generic foods it contains very few branded and restaurant foods.
Of course, in Nutridiary you can always add your own foods using the label information, or you can
save time by upgrading to one of our premium accounts that come with an additional 20,000+ food database
that contains more than 800 brands and 200 restaurants. But in the meanwhile, here are the two main
techniques you can use to make the most out of the USDA database:
- Instead of entering the brand name of a food, for example pepsi or coke, try searching
for its generic name instead (in this case, cola).
- If you enter more than one word, for example coca cola, by default the
search engine tries to find food descriptions that contain all of the words you entered. If you get no
results try reducing the number of words you used or perform an "advanced" search and select
the "Any of the Words Entered" option.
